How much are dentures at a government dental clinic in Malaysia?

Very little, by design. Here are the Ministry of Health figures, and when a private clinic is still worth considering.

A set of dentures

At a Malaysian government dental clinic, a citizen treated as an outpatient pays RM50 per jaw for a full acrylic denture, according to the Ministry of Health's dental charges table. A partial acrylic denture is RM10 for the base plus RM2 per tooth. A denture repair is RM2 and a reline RM30. Upper and lower dentures are charged separately.

Who pays less, or nothing?

Children aged six and under pay no treatment charges except for orthodontic appliances. Civil servants are exempt from outpatient charges.

Pregnant mothers referred for dental care are also exempt, except for making or repairing dentures. Non-citizens pay different rates.

So why would anyone pay more at a private clinic?

Time, and choice. The fee at a government clinic is low; what you trade for it is waiting for a slot and for the work to come back.

If the price is what matters most and you can wait, a government clinic is a sensible choice, and we say so even as a private clinic. Government or private: the honest comparison.
